Restoring Los Cerritos Wetlands: Waiting for the Tides to Return
Date: 11/30/09 7:00 pm - 11/30/09
Location: Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach, CA

Our coastal Southern California salt marsh ecosystems have a remarkable history of survival since rapid urbanization began in the early 1900s. The Los Cerritos Wetlands, located in Long Beach and Seal Beach CA, is one of these biodiversity tidal wetlands. Eric Zahn will tell us about the natural history of Los Cerritos Wetlands, investigate the existing ecology and politics, and discuss the status of the conservation efforts to protect and restore this valuable Long Beach resource. Dr. Zahn, a local salt marsh ecologist and avid botanist, is a co-principal for Tidal Influence, a company he founded to aid community groups and municipalities with their wetlands restoration efforts.
