Communicating Ocean Sciences to Informal Audiences
Date: 08/07/10 - 08/09/10
Location: University of Hawaii Maui College

Looking for new ways to engage and interest your audience or students in natural history? Attend a free three-day workshop developed by COSEE California, science educators at Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California-Berkeley. Explore the latest findings about how people learn in informal settings and leave with practical new strategies.

Communicating Ocean Sciences to Informal Audiences (COSIA) is designed for marine educators, though anyone involved in non-formal or free-choice learning will find this valuable, including educators, directors, and trainers at non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, and business staff that deal with visitors and educational groups.

The workshop (including all materials, coffee breaks, and lunch) is FREE through a National Science Foundation collaborative grant with University of Hawaii and the Center for Ocean Science Education Excellence. It will be held in Kahului, Maui, 7-9 August 2010 at the University of Hawaii Maui College campus. A limited number of travel stipends and accommodations are available for neighbor-island participants.
