COSEE-OS Curriculum Development Workshop

COSEE-OS will host a workshop for formal educators that will give them the opportunity to work with ocean scientists and graduate students to develop components for their own classrooms. The workshop will feature five University of Maine scientists whose research focuses on a variety of biological, physical and chemical oceanography topics, and participants will work closely with them to create a concept map linked to multimedia “assets” and visualizations, as well as to develop a dataset appropriate for inquiry-based lessons.
This free workshop includes the opportunity for participants to; 1) work directly with research scientists studying current ocean science topics; 2) develop relationships with marine science graduate students that have a strong interest in education and outreach, and; 3) work through designing an age-appropriate curriculum.
