Smithsonian Deep Reef Observation Project (DROP)
Date: 02/18/16 7:00 PM Eastern
Location: Indian River Room of the Pelican Yacht Club, 1120 Seaway Drive, South Hutchinson Island, Fort Pierce, FL

Join Dr. Carole Baldwin, Research Zoologist at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, as she submerges into the twilight zone, an area of the ocean too deep to access using SCUBA gear but too shallow to be of much interest to deep-diving submersibles. Her presentation will highlight how, through submersible diving to 1,000 feet in the southern Caribbean, Dr. Baldwin and her colleagues are discovering a whole new world of marine life that science has largely missed.

A reception will follow and a cash bar will be available. No reservation required.
