Ocean-Climate Interactive Supported Science: Enhance Meaningful Learning and Teaching Through Phytoplankton Investigations

Workshop participants learned about concept maps
This educator-scientist collaborative workshop will engage K-5 educators in examining their science teaching practices through scientist led and supported lab sessions on phytoplankton research. Teachers will also take part in hands-on technology activities to further develop an understanding of ocean inquiry using the Ocean Climate Interactive developed by COSEE-OS.

This workshop will be held at the University of Maine, Darling Marine Center (DMC). The DMC is located on the Damariscotta River estuary in Walpole, Maine and consists of state-of-the-art educational, research, and conference facilities, seawater laboratories and classrooms, research vessels, a marine library, dining hall, and housing facilities. Overnight housing and meals will be provided by COSEE-OS and each participant will receive a $100 stipend.
