VIEWPOINTS

As you look through these pages one theme that will stand out is Alaska itself. This frontier state is so large, the population so small, the numerous sectors so individual yet joined in their interdependence with Alaskan resources and with each other. As a result, Dr. Michael Castellini and his colleagues find themselves doing their research and their outreach in novel ways.

While there are many attributes that remain the same no matter where a scientist is working – the need to collaborate, the need for support, the responsibility to communicate – the particular and peculiar benefits and challenges of working in Alaska shine through.
