On August 10, COSEE-OS will host their second Research-Based Online Learning Event (ROLE) webinar featuring research scientists and educators who use concept mapping to develop and communicate ideas.
  • Learn interesting and relevant science content from researchers
  • Talk with fellow educators about their own classroom experiences
  • See a demonstration of the new version of the COSEE-OS Concept Map Builder

Peter Girguis, Assistant Professor of Biology in the Department of Organismic & Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University, will share his research through a concept map about hydrothermal vent ecosystems, including information gathered on a recent trip to the Juan de Fuca ridge.

Louise McMinn, a science teacher at Scofield Magnet Middle School in Stamford, Connecticut, will share her experiences using concept mapping in her work.

No cost or setup required, all you need is a phone and an internet connection! Click here (PDF, 987 KB) to download the Event announcement.

"I enjoy learning straight from the people involved with the action... it really helps my students' interest when we discuss concepts and I tell them that my knowledge comes from a scientist." -Educator Participant, July 28th ROLE Model Webinar
