The Keller BLOOM Program

Want to explore ocean science? Spend time in the field and in the lab? Work with professional scientists?

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in East Boothbay will host the 24th annual Keller BLOOM Program from May 19 - 23, 2013. Keller BLOOM is an opportunity for students to conduct hands-on ocean science research with Bigelow scientists in laboratory workshops and field studies. Program activities include sampling in along a River estuary on a one-day research cruise, laboratory experiments, and data analysis using state of the art instrumentation. Participants are also introduced to academic and career options in the field.

Maine high school juniors interested in science are encouraged to apply. No prior research experience is necessary. Sixteen students will be selected to participate. Bigelow Laboratory will provide room and board under chaperoned conditions. There is no cost to participate in the program.
