What do seagrasses, dead zones, and ocean observing systems have in common? Find out in this three-day workshop focusing on expanding ocean science content knowledge and utilizing web-based resources to teach about coastal trends in the classroom.

Teachers will explore select ocean science topics through hands-on activities and field experiences based out of the University of Maryland’s Horn Point Laboratory on the Choptank River, a tributary to the Chesapeake Bay. Teachers will also learn about 5-e science lesson plans and web-based science content resources created by teams of ocean scientists, teachers, undergraduate and graduate students. These resources have been classroom tested and are ready to be adapted to any science curriculum. Includes stipend and travel expenses.
