Dan Whaley is the Founder and CEO of Climos, a San Francisco company exploring geoscience
mechanisms to mitigate atmospheric CO2. Science at Climos is led by Dr. Margaret Leinen, the former
Assistant Director, Geosciences for the US National Science Foundation. The Climos Science Advisory
Board includes Dr. Rita Colwell, 11th Director of NSF, Dr. Robert Gagosian, the former President of
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute as well as Dr. Edward Miles, the Virginia & Prentice Bloedel
Professor of Marine & Public Affairs at the University of Washington. In 1994, Dan founded GetThere,
the first company to enable travel reservations over the web. He has bicycled solo across the United
States and will eventually summit El Capitan.
