Dr. Tyler is a Professor of Biology at Indian River State College. He teaches a variety of courses, including General Biology, Ecology, Oceanography, Marine Biology Life Science, Living Science Program, Secondary School Teacher Education, and Biotechnology Program Development.
Background with Respect to Ocean Sciences Education:
Prior to academic life, he was the Science Director at Seacamp Association in Big Pine Key, FL. In addition to his current academic responsibilities, he leads an NSF-funded Dolphin Science Investigation High School program, using biotechnology methodology to solve a faux environmental problem of dolphin die-off in Indian River Lagoon. He also has coordinated summer workshops for science and math teachers from Treasure Coast Middle and High Schools.
