COSEE Networked Ocean World is invested in communicating ocean observing data to the general public by facilitating communications between educators and scientists; developing products and services to improve communications and promote collaboration; and utilizing the collaborations for creating quality education, public outreach and media products for use with the general public. We offer:
Web-based forums, interactions and professional development;
Presentations, lectures, seminars, workshops, college courses, and regional collaborations to enhance ocean science education and increase ocean literacy;
Professional development programs for teachers that draw on scientists’ expertise;
Educator-scientist interactions to enhance scientific and technological content in both formal and informal settings; and
Guidance for scientists in deconstructing their science for public audiences and utilizing education and evaluation resources to improve ocean literacy for a broad range of audiences (undergraduate, K12, informal learning environments).
