Hydrothermal Vent Ecosystems - 08.11.2010
On August 10, COSEE-OS hosted their second Research-Based Online Learning Event (ROLE) webinar featuring research scientists and educators who use concept mapping to develop and communicate ideas.
Peter Girguis, Assistant Professor of Biology in the Department of Organismic & Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University, shared his research through a concept map about hydrothermal vent ecosystems, including information gathered on a recent trip to the Juan de Fuca ridge. Louise McMinn, a science teacher at Scofield Magnet Middle School in Stamford, Connecticut, discussed her experiences using concept mapping in her classrooms. Additionally, Carla Companion, COSEE-OS Research Associate, demonstrated the latest revisions to our suite of ocean-climate multimedia tools.
