 Working Group Updates
Messaging and Marketing Working Group The MMWG Steering Committee helped develop the position description for the Smithsonian Institution Senior Educator, and members of the MMWG participated in the selection of Elizabeth Ban as Senior Educator. In addition, the MMWG has recommended that each Center provide 20 science-based messages, using the National Environmental Education Foundation-Earth Guage format, for use in the Ocean Today Kiosk "ticker tape" area at the Sant Ocean Hall. For more information on the MMWG contact Sharon Walker.

Evaluation Working Group The EWG was inactive while a new National Evaluator was being selected and was re-activated in February 2009. Its scope of work includes: providing a forum for identifying collaborative opportunities among the National Network Evaluator and Center Evaluators; and providing a periodic review and assessment of National Network Evaluator plans. For more information on the EWG contact Rosanne Fortner.

Diversity Working Group The DWG has developed a time line for the year's goals, which are: to develop a review of best practices for increasing and accomodating diversity in ocean science education using primary literature; develop a survey of current diversity programming within the COSEE Network; and develop a Diversity Guidance Document to be delivered to the Network. For more information on the DWG contact Dionne Hoskins.
