On Thursday, April 11, COSEE-OS staff, together with members of NEOSEC (New England Ocean Science Education Collaborative), hosted a very productive Broader Impacts Collaborations workshop at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH. This workshop brought together early career scientists and informal educators with a series of four overarching goals: to increase understanding of Broader Impacts programs; form partnerships among early career scientists and informal educators; increase awareness of tools and collaborative resources available to Broader Impacts partners; and to develop a Broader Impacts project and statement.

During this workshop, scientists and informal educators met in small groups to discuss the connections between their work using concept mapping software developed by COSEE-OS. With the help of a Broader Impacts Proposal Workbook, created by Kate Leavitt for the purposes of this workshop, groups worked to assemble a Broader Impacts statement. Participants will present the results of their group projects in a series of webinars during the month of May.
