Life History of California Sharks and Rays
Date: 06/09/09 7:00 pm - 06/09/09
Location: Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach, CA

Gregor Cailliet, PhD will talk about the life histories of California sharks and rays and why they are important to us. Sharks are amazing. They fascinate us. They contribute to the ocean’s health. And they are mysterious, many of them so mysterious that it is a challenge to develop plans to help their survival. Little is known about even the basics. Where do they go to breed? How do they reproduce? Where are their nurseries? How fast do they grow? How can you tell how old a shark or ray is? Without answers to these questions, developing plans to help these awesome creatures survive is a difficult task.
