Green Chemistry

COSEE West presents this lecture by Patrick Movlay, Hazardous Substances Scientist at the Office of Pollution Prevention and Green Technology, on the topic of the Green Chemistry Laws. Green Chemistry Laws include the SB509 (Creating an Online Toxic Clearing House) and AB1879 (Accelerate the Quest for Safer Products). Both bills were signed into Laws by the Governor in 2008 and DTSC has been assigned to create and implement the regulations for them. I will be discussing the Department's Green Chemistry Initiative and its recommendations, the two laws mentioned above, what they mean for the residents of California and where we are currently in our implementation plan.
