Earth, Air, Water and Fire: Multi-Media Concept Mapping to Promote Ocean Literacy in Rural and Inland Audiences

NMEA educators will discover a powerful visual tool to help students and audiences - no matter where they live - improve their understanding of ocean and climate interactions.
Dr. Christy Herren will demonstrate the COSEE-OS suite of multimedia software that offers educators free and easy access to a wide variety of scientist-selected resources using a hyperlinked concept mapping tool. During the session, participants will create a group-designed concept map exploring how all people are connected by "earth, air, water and fire". They will also be invited to continue post-conference through a social networking forum to create customized concept map "explorations" for their audiences.
