Interaction with COSEE Network:

I am one of the PIs on the COSEE Alaska project. Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program has 15 marine extension agents located in 10 coastal communities around the state. Our MAP agents link COSEE Alaska with these coastal sites. Alaska Sea Grant also produced the Alaska Seas and Rivers online K-8 curriculum. COSEE Alaska’s Program Manager, Marilyn Sigman, is a Marine Advisory Program education specialist and is part of the MAP network.

Background with Respect to Ocean Sciences Education:

I have been working with coastal Alaskans on marine resource issues for about 25 years, through extension and outreach. COSEE Alaska is an excellent addition to our state by linking the vast amount of marine research with the public including educators and students.
